How Topics Are Selected
We choose topics based on what everyday readers commonly encounter — recognizing phishing, understanding how antivirus software works, configuring built-in Windows security features — independently of any vendor or advertiser.
How Factual Claims Are Checked
We prioritize describing general mechanisms and stable technical concepts that don't require constant re-verification because they reflect how the underlying technology works, rather than a specific, frequently changing statistic. Where an article references a specific tool or organization, we describe its role accurately and avoid fabricated statistics, invented quotes, or claims of first-hand testing we have not actually performed.
How Product Information Is Handled
When articles reference specific security products — including less-famous vendors alongside household names — we describe general, well-established characteristics rather than details that change frequently and require real-time verification, such as pricing. Where a feature varies by plan, we say so explicitly. We do not present ourselves as having conducted independent product testing unless that testing has genuinely occurred.
Editorial Content vs Advertising
Our articles are independent editorial content, not paid placements. No vendor can pay for favorable coverage or a particular ranking. If advertising is added to this Site, it will be visually and structurally separated from editorial content, consistent with our Advertising Disclosure.
